THE DISTRIBUTED ENERGY SHOW, 11TH & 12TH MARCH 2026, NEC, BIRMINGHAM

28/02/2024

Exhibitor Interview: Igne

What products/services/technologies does your company specialise in?

The construction, infrastructure and energy ecosystems are evolving and Igne enables these sectors to succeed through the provision of integrated or stand-alone solutions to:

  • site investigation,
  • construction materials testing,
  • unexploded ordnance threat mitigation,
  • geo-environmental,
  • geothermal energy and
  • water supply challenges.

In terms of the latter two, which are of specific interest to the audience attending and exhibiting at the Distributed Energy Show, our specialist drilling capabilities allow our clients to abstract water for any purpose; this could be for heating or cooling, for process or for potable water supplies.

We have deep closed loop geothermal capabilities with experience of drilling greater then 500m for the installation of closed geothermal loops.  And we have delivered large scale infrastructure projects including district heating open loop boreholes for large scale housing development, and energy centres based at universities and hospitals.

Please explain the benefits of the technology and how it could help a business looking to improve their energy solutions?

Igne’s closed-loop geothermal energy installations and water borehole drilling solutions offer several benefits for businesses looking to enhance their energy solutions:

  1. Cost Savings: Open and Closed-loop geothermal systems utilise the stable temperature of the earth to heat and cool buildings efficiently and can provide hot water. This can lead to significant cost savings on energy bills compared to traditional heating and cooling systems, especially in the long term.
  2. Environmental Sustainability: Geothermal energy is a renewable energy source that produces minimal greenhouse gas emissions. By investing in closed-loop geothermal systems, businesses can reduce their carbon footprint and demonstrate their commitment to environmental sustainability.
  3. Reliability and Consistency: Geothermal energy is not subject to fluctuations in fuel prices or availability, making it a reliable and consistent energy source. Businesses can enjoy stable energy costs and uninterrupted operation of their facilities.
  4. Longevity and Low Maintenance: Geothermal systems have fewer moving parts compared to conventional HVAC systems, leading to lower maintenance requirements and longer operational lifespans. This can result in reduced downtime and maintenance costs for businesses.
  5. Water Borehole Drilling Solutions: Igne’s expertise in water borehole drilling can also benefit businesses by providing access to clean and sustainable water sources. This is crucial for industries such as agriculture, manufacturing, and hospitality that rely heavily on water for their operations.  Igne can install permanent magnet motors in our pumps making them more efficient, reducing running cost and carbon emissions.  We can install to any depth and flow rate required
  6. Energy Independence: By harnessing geothermal energy and securing access to clean water, businesses can reduce their dependence on external energy suppliers and water utilities companies. This provides greater control over energy costs and resource availability.
  7. Compliance and Regulatory Benefits: Investing in sustainable energy solutions like closed-loop geothermal systems may make businesses eligible for various incentives, rebates, and tax credits offered by governments and environmental agencies. This can help offset the initial investment costs and improve overall ROI.

What will you be showcasing at your stand at The Distributed Energy Show?
