Karen Spenley
Karen has worked her entire career in energy, firstly in nuclear, before moving into oil and gas, and currently geothermal. She spent 25 years in SLB in technology development, business and corporate development roles. The last 4 years she has dedicated to bringing the quantification of emissions, circularity, water and other sustainability impacts into product development, enabling the reduction of emissions both in technology selection but also in design. Currently she is the UK Country Manager for Celsius Energy, bringing new shallow geothermal capability to the UK encompassing subsurface, modelling, digital and drilling capability to expand the ground source ecosystem for the decarbonisation of heating and cooling of buildings.
In 2019 Karen was selected for Homeward Bound, a global leadership network for women in STEMM ensuring the sustainability of our planet. Karen is also a strategic advisor to Planet Cheltenham, the town’s climate action community space looking to tackle climate change, fight social inequality and build a sustainable future.
