Keynote Address: The Net Zero Innovation Portfolio – How Innovation Can Support the Delivery of a Net Zero Energy System

Innovation plays a crucial role in the deployment of the technologies, systems, processes and business models needed to deliver a net zero energy system. Running since March 2021, the Net zero innovation portfolio funds innovation across 10 areas, including energy storage and flexibility. As the energy system decarbonises, energy storage and flexible energy use by the consumer are needed to maximise the use of renewable energy, and provide energy where and when it is needed efficiently and cost-effectively. This session will look at the role innovation has played in delivering a net zero energy system, and the role it might play in the future.
