Panel: Accelerating Grid Connections: Bridging DNOs, Developers, and ICPs by 2030

Meeting the UK’s ambitious 2030 energy targets could require doubling the rate of grid connections, highlighting the need for closer coordination between Distribution Network Operators (DNOs), developers, and Independent Connection Providers (ICPs). Complex approval processes and lengthy timelines in the DNO-developer-ICP interface currently impede swift project deployment. Adapting regulatory frameworks to allow for faster, more flexible asset connections will be crucial to bridging these gaps.  

 This session explores the primary challenges and examines collaborative models and advanced technologies that can streamline connections, align stakeholders, and accelerate progress toward a responsive, future-ready grid infrastructure.
