The British Hydropower Association is the only UK trade body solely representing the interests of the UK hydropower industry, including tidal range energy, and its associated stakeholders at regional, national, and global levels. The BHA is not a government-funded body, and anyone involved in, or with an interest in hydropower, should be a member of the association.

Membership of the BHA is very diverse and members include design and consulting engineers in all disciplines, developers/owners, supply chain businesses, contractors, operators, all-scale generators, equipment and component manufacturers and suppliers, project managers, financiers and investors, insurers, and environmental specialists.

On behalf of the membership, the British Hydropower Association will -

  • Act as a unified voice for the industry, providing opportunities to influence responses to a wide range of industry consultations
  • Participate in working and industry liaison groups to address specific issues and agree solutions
  • Assist with the delivery of key initiatives, guidance and provide specialist advice and expertise
  • Conduct research and disseminate information, commercial and market intelligence, and news bulletins quickly
  • Ensure members are kept abreast of industry developments
  • Provide networking opportunities and a forum for effective dialogue between members, the industry and other important stakeholder groups
  • Assist with access to overseas markets

The GSHP Association is the focal point for business interests in the ground source heat pump industry. The purpose of the Association is:

  1. to provide benefits to members
  2. to share best practice and develop and disseminate industry approved technical standards, training criteria and codes of practice
  3. to promote the highest standards of integrity, professionalism and technical competence within the ground source energy industry
  4. to represent the ground source heating & cooling industry, promoting sustainable use of heat pump technology and engaging with government and other bodies to influence relevant policymaking.

All members must sign up to the Code of Conduct. Members agree to abide by the GSHP Standards published by the GSHPA.

Members are promoted as the best choice for ground source heat services and it is hoped they will enjoy, not only a financial gain in joining, but co-operation with others involved in the implementation of solutions to global warming and resource depletion and help to raise installation standards across the ground source industry.

The PSSA provides a professional association and network for those working in the Public Sector who have a common interest in sustainability. The aim is to bring together a wide group of people working across all areas of the Public Sector – to help educate, train, support and connect.
